The Association of Humorists and Cartoonists of the Union of Journalists of Cuba and the Museum of Humor of San Antonio de los Baños have issued a call for the XXIII International Biennial of Graphic Humor, to be held from April 9th to the 12th, 2023, with the co-sponsorship of the Provincial Directorate of Culture of Artemisa.
Humorists and cartoonists, inspired by the slogan "LAUGHING AT MACHISMO SERIOUSLY", invite their colleagues from Cuba and the world to submit their works that contribute to the debate around patriarchal discrimination, gender violence, inclusive language and women's empowerment.
Participation in the event is open to all graphic humorists who wish to compete with a Free theme. The original works must be sent in digital format and with the signature and biographical data of the author.
They can be done in any technique, delivered in JPG format, with a resolution of 300 dpi and no less than 1500 pixels.

· General humor
· Political satire
· Humorous cartoon
· Personal caricature
· Humorous photography
· Tomy Award for political humor, in memory of the beloved cartoonist Tomás Rodríguez Zayas, who would have been 74 years old in 2023. The Tomy seeks to reward the best exponents of counter-hegemonic, anti-imperialist and leftist graphic discourse. On this occasion, the theme will be "MEDIATIC WAR".
- One work will participate in each of the categories, plus the Tomy Award for political humor. They must be sent to the e-mail address: humor@upec.cu and must be accompanied by the entry form, specifying the following data:
· Name and surname (in addition to the artistic name)

· Title
· Category

· Telephone number
- The same information must be included in the data of digital works, title of the file with the author's name and country of origin. In the body of the message and in the subject, please specify the category in which you are competing and if the work is for the Tomy Award.
- All proposals will be accepted in digital format until March 1, 2023.

JURY
- The admission jury will select the works submitted to the competition for exhibition at the XXIII International Exhibition of Graphic Humor in San Antonio de los Baños.
- An international jury made up of prestigious personalities linked to graphic humor will award the prizes. The decisions of the juries are final and participation in the contest implies the acceptance of all the terms of this Call for Entries.
THE AWARDS
- Eduardo Abela Award, the highest award of the contest. It is awarded as a tribute to the outstanding Cuban cartoonist (1889-1965), consisting of a diploma, trophy and cash.
- First, second and third prizes in each category and as many mentions as the jury considers, consisting of a diploma.
- Tomy Award consisting of a diploma, trophy and a reproduction of one of the author's works.
- As is a tradition, several Cuban cultural and social institutions will join the contest and award collateral prizes.
