The award and plaque ceremony of the 2nd Izmir International Caricature Festival, organized by the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality and curated by the Cartoonist and Caricaturist Menekşe Çam, was held. Master artists, who conquered the hearts of the people at 8 different points by drawing free caricatures during 2 days.
On the 3rd day they turned the İzmir Internatinal Fair Youth Theater wall into a masterpiece, and they received their plaques and gifts at the award ceremony held. İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Deputy Mayor Mustafa Özuslu who speaking at the Award Ceremony, he said, “You touched İzmir, to the people of İzmir. With the art you perform, you are actually resisting and changing.
As Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, we hope that art will touch the public. You can play theater and puppet shows in the halls, but bringing art to the streets of the city produces a much more impressive result.
Remember; In our worst day, when the pandemic reached its highest level, we healed with people making music on the balconies and making music on the streets. Art has such a beautiful nature. As long as there is art, there is hope.”
After the plaque and awards were given, the artist Peter Zsoldos from Hungary has gave a surprise caricature to the Deputy Chairman Özuslu as a gift. Deputy Chairman Özuslu also said that he was very pleased and thanked him.
Exhibitions consisting of the works of artists will be open to art lovers at Alsancak Vasıf Çınar Square and Konak Metro Gallery until May 31.
