Mr. OKA Hiroshi, Ambassador of Japan in Cairo, inaugurated a caricature exhibition entitled "Egypt-Japan Caricature", in the presence of Ms. Ayumi Hashimoto, Director of the Japan Foundation, cartoonist Fawzy Morsy, president of FECO Egypt, and a select group of artists and caricature aficionados.
12 Japanese artists created portraits of Naguib Mahfouz, the sole Arab Nobel Prize winner in literature, while 14 Egyptian artists depicted the two Japanese Nobel Prize winners in literature Yasunari Kawabata and Kenzaburo Oe, who, in their own ways, have delved with their words into the intricacies of the human heart.
The exhibition "Egypt-Japan Caricature" organized by the Japan Foundation in Cairo, in cooperation with FECO Egypt and Nihon Nigaoe Artist Association in Japan (NNAA), in which 26 cartoonists from Egypt and Japan.
Participants from Egypt: Ahmed Geassa, Ahmed Moustafa, Ahmed Samir Farid, Desouki Baghdady, Ghada Mostafa, Hader Yehia, Hamsa Mohsen, Hany Abd El-Gawad, khaled Salah, Mohamed Wahba, Mostafa El-Shekh, Rabab Ibrahim, Shafq Ibrahim, Tharwat Mortady.
Participants from Japan: Cinnamon, Joj Hirai, K-Style, Kunikazu Noguchi, Miki Saito, Ponta, Shinichi Kokawa, Taeryong Ha, Takae Yamada, Takatoshi Okayama, Tomokazu Tabata, Yommy.
The exhibition continues until Wednesday, November 29, 2023.
