Regulation for participation in the epigrams and caricatures competition "CIK DAMADIAN", Botosani 2024, 4th edition.
Objectives
To
promote the Armenian community in Romania, on a national scale, through
symbolic forms of identity and, at the same time, a tribute to a great
Romanian graphic artist and caricaturist of Armenian origin, Hacik
(Cik) Damadian.
Theme: "from Armenian humor".
Registration for the competition
The
competition is open to individuals with Romanian citizenship or foreign
citizens, regardless of nationality, race, sex or religion, over 18
years of age on the date of application.
The competition is divided into two sections:
1️⃣ Caricatures section: Creating 3 caricatures with the theme "from Armenian humour".
2️⃣ Epigrams section: Writing 3 epigrams with the theme " from Armenian humour” and 2 epigrams with a theme of your choice.

All creations submitted for the competition must be original,
unpublished and must not have been awarded prizes in other similar
competitions.
* The competition is open to all genre creators everywhere, professional and non-professional.
* The works must meet the following characteristics:
1️⃣ The caricatures section is divided into two typologies:
- Portrait caricature: caricatures of personalities of Armenian origin
- Caricature on the theme of the contest "from Armenian humor".
* You can submit a maximum of 3 works of each participant. The drawings must be accompanied by:

a curriculum vitae, in Romanian (in English for participants from other
countries) containing: name and surname, exact address, contact
telephone numbers, e-mail.
- copy of identity card (required for the settlement of the award and in case we send the diploma, event brochure, etc.).
- Registration form (Annex 1 to the Regulation).
- Personal Data Protection Declaration (Annex 2 to the Regulation).
* Works
should be in A4 format and should be sent electronically (scanned by
email) to uarbotosani@yahoo.ro and in original form by post to:
Armenian Union of Romania - Botosani Branch,
Str. Armeana no 20, Botosani.
* The deadline for submissions is 25.08.2024.
2️⃣ Epigrams section:
* Be in line with the competition theme.
* To submit 3 epigrams with the required topic "from Armenian humor" and 2 epigrams of your choice.
* The deadline for submissions is 25.08.2024.
* Works must be sent in electronic format (email and in "word" format) to
uarbotosani@yahoo.ro, signed with a motto, with the other required
documents Annex 1 and Annex 2, typed in 14 point Times New Roman font, 1
line spacing. Both versions must be sent by 25.08.2024.
* The epigrams will be accompanied by:
- a curriculum vitae, in Romanian language containing: name and surname, exact address, contact telephone numbers, e-mail.
- copy of identity card (required for the settlement of the award and in case we send the diploma, event brochure, etc.).
- Registration form (Annex 1 to the Regulation).
- Personal Data Protection Declaration (Annex 2 to the Regulation).
The
caricatures will be presented to the public in an exhibition to be
announced before the artwork is handed over. In the event that a
situation of force majeure (e.g. Coronavirus pandemic) prevents the
organization of the exhibition in a normal framework, the organizer -
the Union of Armenians of Romania will make every effort to create a
virtual exhibition on the website or on social networks.
* For the validation of the competitor (caricatures and epigrams section) the works must be accompanied by:
- Copy of identity card.

Caricatures will be submitted in PDF/ WORD (DOC)/ JPG format and epigrams in (editable) WORD (DOC) format.
- Registration to the competition implies the competitor's acceptance of the Competition Regulations.
Selection of participation offers
Following
the assessment of the works, the jury will select the first four (4)
works according to the average obtained from the jurors for each
section, the First Prize, the Second Prize, the Third Prize and the
Honorable Mention.
The prizes will be as follows:
1️⃣ Caricatures section:
🥇 1st Prize: 1000 lei (approx. 200 euro).
🥈 2nd Prize: 750 lei (approx. 150 euro).
🥉 3rd Prize: 500 lei (approx. 100 euro).
🎖 Honorable Mention: 250 lei (approx. 50 euro).
2️⃣ Epigrams section:
🥇 1st Prize: 1000 lei (approx. 200 euro).
🥈 2nd Prize: 700 lei (approx. 150 euro).
🥉 3rd Prize: 400 lei (approx. 100 euro).
🎖 Honorable Mention: 200 lei (approx. 50 euro).
* Judging will take place between: 25.08-06.09.2024.
* The award ceremony will take place at a time and place to be announced after 01.09.2024.
Obligations of participants
*
To comply with the clauses set out in the Regulations
of the "CIK
DAMADIAN" Epigram and Caricature Competition, 4th edition, Botosani,
2024.
* To present their work in the exhibition (period 06.09-30.09.2024).
*
Candidates who do not complete their work by the deadline or who do not
follow the theme/topic required at the time of registration will not be
entered in the competition.
Special clauses
* After completion, the drawings and epigrams become the property of the Armenian Union of Romania - Botosani branch.
*
The author irrevocably transfers to the beneficiary the right of
ownership of the material support of the work as well as the
non-exclusive economic right, according to Law no. 8 / 1996 on copyright
and related rights.
* Any changes to the Regulations required by
circumstances beyond the control of the organizers will be communicated
in good time.
* The registration in the competition is proof of
acceptance of the Regulations and Conditions of the Festival and of the
obligation to comply with them, as well as of the publication of the
texts in the Festival Anthology.
