International Cartoon Competition in Turkey

 

Competition Specification 

The subject of the competition is : Work Accidents in the Construction Sector.

Safety is a priority for everyone in the construction industry. However, we are faced with the fact that work accidents still occur. For this reason, in order to draw attention to occupational accidents in the construction sector, a workshop and cartoon competition themed "Occupational Accidents in Construction"  will be held on October 24, 2024, planned together by Istanbul Aydın University and Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, in which leading companies in the construction sector in Turkey will participate.

For this purpose, "For a Safe Construction Industry with Cartoon!"  It is thought that the cartoon competition, which will be held with the motto, will contribute to raising awareness among sector employees, employers and the society in terms of preventing occupational accidents and promoting safe working environments in the construction sector.

Type and Form of the Competition

All amateur and professional cartoonists in the world can participate in the competition. Participation in the competition is free.

 

Participation Conditions and Evaluation Criteria of the Competition

The competition is aimed at international amateur and professional illustrators with the theme "Work Accidents in the Construction Sector".

- By filling out the participation form, the contestant declares that he/she is the author of the cartoon(s) in which he/she will participate in the competition and that he/she has ownership over these work(s) and that he/she has the right to comply with Articles 21-25 of the Turkish Law on Intellectual and Artistic Works No. 5846. Istanbul Aydın, including the right to transfer to third parties, in the form of a non-exclusive simple license, the financial rights of processing, reproduction, dissemination, representation and transmission to the public by means of means used to transmit signals, sound and/or images, as defined in the provisions of the article. University and Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, and also granted the authority to use the moral rights listed in FSEK No. 5846, which are mandatory for the use of the licensed financial rights, to Istanbul Aydın University and Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality. He declares and accepts in advance that he has his consent to use the cartoon(s) in question in any way he wishes, including, but not limited to, displaying, keeping in his archive, reproducing and publishing on the internet and in other ways.

- If the cartoon(s) that the contestant will participate in the competition receives a degree and/or award, the contestant declares that he/she is the author of the cartoon(s) that received a degree and/or award and that he/she transfers the ownership of the work he/she sent to the competition to Istanbul Aydın University and Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, and that he/she has ownership over the work. Articles 21-25 of the Turkish Intellectual and Artistic Works Law No. 5846. Exclusively to Istanbul Aydın University, without any restrictions on place, duration and number, including the rights to use the financial rights of transmission to the public by means of means used to process, reproduce, disseminate, represent and transmit signs, sound and/or images as defined in the provisions of the article, and the rights to transfer these to third parties. and Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, and that it has also given the authority to use the moral rights listed in FSEK No. 5846, which are mandatory for the use of licensed financial rights, to Istanbul Aydın University and Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality. and that the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality has consented to use the cartoon(s) in question in any way it wishes, including but not limited to exhibiting it, keeping it in its archive, reproducing and publishing it on the internet and in other ways, and that it has no authority to dispose of the financial rights subject to transfer, and therefore it cannot be transferred. It accepts and declares in advance that it will not engage in any transactions with third parties regarding the financial rights granted.

- The participant declares that the work he/she submitted to the competition is a completely original work, that there are no rights of any third party arising from FSEK No. 5846 on the work, and that permission has been obtained for these rights, if any, and that a third party may claim a right on the submitted work and Istanbul Aydın University and Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality pay any compensation or similar amount under any name due to the use of the work in question, 2 times of this amount will be paid to Istanbul Aydın University and Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality as a penalty and also the reward given to the participant will be refunded. accepts and declares that it will be received.

- The contestant acknowledges that the information contained in the participation form filled out to participate in the contest will be processed and transferred for the purposes of communication and participation in the contest within the framework of the International Cartoon Contest of Istanbul Aydın University and Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality within the scope of the Personal Data Protection Law No. 6698, and even if the application is unsuccessful. Personal data will be kept by Istanbul Aydın University and Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality for the period stipulated by the legislation, information about participation in the competition will be shared with the jury, press and broadcasting bodies and other relevant persons, and in case of receiving an award or publishing the work, your information as the owner of the work will be shared with the public and in this regard He accepts and declares that he has been given the necessary information.

- Participation in the competition requires the contestant to provide clear and understandable information regarding the right he/she wishes to use during the application, to prove his/her identity during the application to prove that he/she is the relevant person and therefore to send his/her identity information with the application and to share his/her contact information in order to be notified of the result of the application. accepts and declares that it has been informed beforehand.

- The 1-day accommodation expenses required for the top three winners to come to the award ceremony will be covered by the organizing committee.

- Advisors, full and substitute members of the selection committee, and first-degree relatives of the managers of the institutional unit organizing the competition cannot participate in the competition.

- Cartoons can be drawn in A3 (297 mm Cartoons must be prepared in JPEG format (300 dpi resolution) and A3 horizontal/vertical and submitted digitally along with the participation form to insaatkarikatur@gmail.com. Additionally, no delivery will be made via post.

- Contestants can participate in the competition with a maximum of 3 cartoons.

- Competitors must choose a nickname consisting of 6 numbers and name the cartoons.

- There are names, signatures, dates, logos, etc. on the cartoon that may provide clues about the participant. There should be no markings.

- The cartoons that will participate in the competition must not have received any awards or exhibitions in any competition or organization before, and must not have been published before. A violation of the rules will be applied to anyone who participates with cartoons that have previously received awards, honorable mentions, special awards and exhibitions, or with works in which this cartoon is used as the main element.

 

- The organizing committee reserves the right to make changes to the competition specifications and terminate the competition.

- Participants who send works to the competition by e-mail must write their names, contact addresses and phone numbers in their e-mails and add the following text: “I accept all the rules and regulations of the competition specifications of the Construction Sector Work Accidents International Cartoon Competition.

- “I unconditionally accept all the rules and regulations of the competition specifications of the Construction Sector Work Accidents International Cartoon Competition organized by Istanbul Aydın University and Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality.”
