"Shadi in the Eyes of the World" at the Ahmed Shawky Museum


The Ahmed Shawky Museum, affiliated with the Fine Arts Sector, will host the exhibition "Shadi in the Eyes of the World," which will open at 5:00 PM on Wednesday, December 11, and will run until December 14, 2024. This exhibition is part of the Ministry of Culture's celebration of "Shadi Day," organized under the patronage of Dr. Ahmed Fouad Hano, the Minister of Culture. It is part of the ministry's plan to highlight creators who have dedicated their work to elevating the value of Egyptian national identity and have been influenced by it.

Dr. Waleed Kanoush, Head of the Fine Arts Sector, stated that this event is being implemented in collaboration with the Egyptian Caricature Association. The goal is to utilize one of the visual arts fields to express appreciation for the work of artist Shadi Abdel Salam, his creative journey, and his influence from Egypt's cultural heritage, as well as how artists around the world perceive him.

Fawzy Morsy, Secretary-General of the association and curator of the exhibition, mentioned that the exhibition includes nearly 100 works of art, contributed by artists from various countries including Iraq, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Bahrain, Indonesia, Brazil, Russia, Portugal, India, China, Iran, Uruguay, Croatia, Montenegro, Malaysia, Turkey, Italy, Peru, Macedonia, Romania, Serbia, Nepal, Sweden, Poland, as well as Egypt.

It is worth noting that the Egyptian Caricature Association, chaired by artist Mostafa El-Sheikh, has recently made a point of honoring many cultural icons in its exhibitions, having organized events to honor figures such as "Naguib Mahfouz, Gabriel García Márquez, Rabindranath Tagore, Umm Kulthum, and others".
