🎯 MAIN THEME OF THE SALON

Dreams and Challenges (Hopes and Achievements).

🌟 Dreams and challenges are intrinsic parts of the human journey, deeply interconnected, realizing dreams often requires overcoming obstacles, the pursuit of personal and professional goals frequently involves facing situations that demand determination, ambition, and resilience.

Life under pressure, with its uncertainties and constant changes, requires us to develop the ability to adapt and persist, transforming challenges into opportunities for growth.

📅 DATES

Entries: From August 1 to September 30, 2025.

 

🏛️ ORGANIZATION

Organized by the Cultural Station of Caratinga, with support from the City Hall of Caratinga.

 

🖼️ EXHIBITION

All entries selected for the competitive exhibition will be displayed from October 21 to 26, 2025.

 

🖌️ CATEGORIES

Each artist may submit one (1) unpublished work per category:

1. Cartoon: Dreams and Challenges (Hopes and Achievements).

2. Comic Strips / HQ: Dreams and Challenges (Hopes and Achievements) .. With or without text, max 1 page, in Portuguese).

3. Caricature: Free theme (Vertical format).

4. Tribute Caricature: (Vertical).

               🎭 5th Jal & Gual Festival              

Each artist may submit one (1) unpublished work per category .. The Festival themes are: 

1. Caricature: Brazilian Cartoonists - (Vertical format). 

2. Caricature: Theme: EDRA - (Vertical format).

In celebration of EDRA, a cartoonist with 45 years of dedication to graphic humor and organizer of 20 editions of the Caratinga Humor Salon.

 🌍 WHO CAN PARTICIPATE? 

Open to artists of all nationalities, amateur or professional, aged 18 and above, all submitted works must be unpublished, previously awarded works (up to the submission deadline) are not allowed.

 

📨 SUBMISSION

⚠️ IMPORTANT: All entries for all categories must be submitted in a single email with the following information: Full name, Artist name, Address, CPF (Brazilian tax number), RG (ID number), Phone number.

🎨 TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS

- Technique: Free.

- File format: JPG, size A3, resolution 300 DPI.

- Printed works on A3 couché paper will also be accepted.

🚫 Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) is strictly prohibited.

 

🏆 AWARDS

💵 R$ 500 for 1st place in each of the 6 categories (Total: R$ 3,000) .. Total: R$ 3,000.00.

🏅 Trophies for the Top 3 in each category.

📜 Certificates for 3 Honorable Mentions in each category.

⚠️ There will not be more than one prize per author in the same category, if this happens, the award will go to the next highest-ranked artist, other prizes and mentions may be established at the discretion of the Organizing Committee.

📌 IMPORTANT: Participants from outside Brazil must provide bank account details with a branch in Brazil.

 

⚖️ JUDGING

- Two separate juries will be formed: one for selection and one for awards, composed of qualified professionals.

- The award jury reserves the right to not assign prizes in categories that do not meet the desired quality standards. In this case, prizes may be transferred to other categories or assigned as a Special Salon Award.

- If the jury detects irregularities, fraud, or plagiarism, the prize may be canceled and reassigned to the next ranked artist.

- The winning works will be published on the Salon’s blog and Facebook page after the opening.

- Challenges or appeals may be made up to one week after the Salon’s opening, provided they include valid evidence of any irregularity unknown to the jury.

 

📚 COPYRIGHT & USAGE

- All submitted works (whether awarded or not) will become property of the Estação Cultural de Caratinga.

- The works will become part of the Salon’s permanent collection, and may be used for: Traveling exhibitions, Promotion in print, TV, and online media, Publication in books, magazines, and catalogs.

- These works will be incorporated into the Cultural Research and National Graphic Humor Promotion Archive of the Estação Cultural de Caratinga, which may use them as it sees fit. 

📜 By submitting their work, the artist automatically agrees to all terms of this regulation and grants full, universal, and irrevocable copyright of the awarded work(s), free of charge, to the Salon, in accordance with Law No. 9610 of February 1988 (Brazilian Copyright Law).

✅ Submitting an entry implies full acceptance of this regulation.
