Opening of the International Cartoon Exhibition: Eminescu & Caragiale

 🇷🇴 The international cartoon exhibition "Eminescu & Caragiale – Pillars of Romanian Culture" has officially opened, showcasing a remarkable collection of artworks celebrating two of Romania’s cultural icons: the poet Mihai Eminescu and playwright Ion Luca Caragiale. The event is held as part of the National Culture Day celebrations in Romania and the Republic of Moldova.

 

 

📰 Organized in partnership with the Union of Professional Journalists of Romania – Prahova Branch, the exhibition crowns the international contest held during November–December 2025, which attracted talented cartoonists from across the globe.

 

 

 

🏆 The Grand Prize was awarded to five outstanding artists: Khedr Hassan (Egypt 🇪🇬), Gary McMullan (Ireland 🇮🇪), Shahab Shamshirsaz (Italy 🇮🇹), Thein Tun Oo (Myanmar 🇲🇲), and Marian Avramescu (Romania 🇷🇴), for their exceptional contributions and creative interpretations of Eminescu and Caragiale.

 

 

 

🏅 An additional 15 international artists received the Excellence Award, recognizing the high artistic quality and innovative portrayal of these cultural figures, blending intelligent satire with profound human insight.

 

 

🖼️ The submitted works are on display in dozens of cultural institutions across cities spanning the Romanian cultural space, from the Nistru River to the Tisa River, highlighting the universal language of cartoon art as a tool for cultural dialogue and creative expression.
