1- Objective: This project was created with the goal of honoring national and international artists in graphic humor.

🐱 Theme: MY FAVORITE PET – Themes relating to the various types of pets that people have in their homes. Love for pets goes beyond affection; it generates proven scientific benefits for mental and physical health, strengthening empathy and a sense of purpose.
🌍 It is estimated that there are about 1 billion pets in the world today. This number primarily considers dogs and cats in domestic households, but the total count may vary depending on the inclusion of fish, birds, and small mammals.

Global Estimates by Species
🐕 Dogs: There are between 700 million and 1 billion dogs in the world. Of these, about 470 million are considered pets with owners.
🐈 Cats: The domestic cat population is estimated at approximately 350 to 373 million, although other studies suggest that the total number (including feral and stray cats) could exceed 800 million.
🐦 Other Pets: Ornamental fish and birds also account for hundreds of millions of individuals globally, with Brazil being one of the leaders in these segments.
🇧🇷 Brazil in the World Ranking
• Brazil has one of the largest pet populations on the planet, ranking 3rd in the world in the total number of pets.
• There are about 167.6 million pets in the country.
• Distribution in Brazil: 67.8 million dogs, 33.6 million cats, in addition to millions of birds and fish.

🗓 Registration: From February 16, 2026 to April 5, 2026.
🖼 Physical Exhibition: May 9, 2026 to June 14, 2026.

2- Professionals and amateurs may register by sending 1 (one) work per category to the address https://forms.gle/PqbeD9dQFJG4YiHw9 by clicking HERE in 300 dpi resolution or by using the QR Code on the side.
3- Deadline: April 5, 2026.
4- Announcement of selected works: 04/30.
📜 100 works will be selected for the physical exhibition, which will be held at the D Pedro I and D Leopoldina Historical and Pedagogical Museum (R. Mal. Deodoro da Fonseca, 260 - Jardim Boa Vista, Pindamonhangaba – SP).
• All selected participants will receive a Certificate of Participation.
5- Simple registration obliges the artist to accept these regulations.
Artists selected by the judging committee automatically assign the image rights of their work for reproductions and publications in any medium, aiming to promote the event.
6- Awards:
🏆 Trophies will be awarded to the three best works evaluated by the judging committee in each category and one trophy for the best work by an international artist.
• Trophies that are returned due to an incorrect address provided will not be resent.
7- This year's honoree: The Cartoonist Maurício de Sousa.
Biography:
Mauricio de Sousa (Santa Isabel, 10/27/1935) is a Brazilian cartoonist, businessman, and writer. He gained national and international notoriety for creating the children's comic book series Monica's Gang (Turma da Mônica), for which he developed more than 200 characters. With a career spanning over six decades, Sousa is widely referenced as one of the greatest cartoonists in the history of Brazil and the world.
Born into a family of artists, Sousa began his career as a police reporter, when he created his first character, the dog Bidu. Inspired by his childhood and his children, he developed iconic characters such as Monica, Jimmy Five, Smudge, and Maggy, who became icons of Brazilian popular culture.
In addition to comics, Sousa expanded his universe to theme parks, film and television adaptations, and a variety of licensed products.
Founder of MSP Studios, his company became one of the most successful in the children's entertainment business in Brazil. Throughout his career, he has received several honors, such as the Order of Cultural Merit and the Order of Ipiranga. In 2011, he became the first comic book artist to join the Paulista Academy of Letters. In 2025, his work was recognized as Intangible Heritage of the city of São Paulo.
