🇧🇷 The GABRIEL Institute is a civil society organization, non-profit, which for over 25 years has been working to promote information, awareness, and public understanding about organ and tissue donation in Brazil.
❤️ Among its initiatives, the Humor Salon on Organ Donation stands out, using graphic humor as a tool to broaden dialogue with society and encourage the development of a culture of donation.
2 - OBJECTIVES
🫀 Participants of this International Salon are invited to use their artistic and humorous vision to raise public awareness about the importance of organ and tissue donation to save lives.
🤝 They should highlight the nobility of this gesture of love and solidarity. Through their works, graphic humorists have the mission of promoting reflection on organ donation.

📌 Note: Selected works will be exhibited during the virtual Salon on the GABRIEL Institute website and later in traveling exhibitions.
4 - PARTICIPATION
👨🎨 Participation is open to all graphic artists, professionals or amateurs, aged 18 and over.
💸 Registration is free.
5 - SUBMISSION OF WORKS
🖼️ All works in all categories must be submitted online in A4 format (210x297mm), at 300 dpi, created using any technique (including graphic software), in CMYK color mode, in JPG or PNG format, with a maximum file size of 10 MB.
❌ Works produced, fully or partially, using Artificial Intelligence will NOT be accepted.
6 - NUMBER OF WORKS
🔢 Up to five original works per category will be accepted, submitted under a single registration.
7 - CATEGORIES
1️⃣ Cartoon (Cartum): Participants must create works addressing the theme "Organ Donation", without using visual puns involving musical or reproductive organs. It is essential to avoid representations that may demean transplant patients or stigmatize specific groups.
2️⃣ Charge (Editorial Cartoon): Participants are challenged to produce critical and humorous graphic representations of political and social facts related to the proposed theme. Works must avoid any form of stereotype or prejudice regarding donors, recipients, or professionals involved in organ donation/transplantation.
3️⃣ Caricature (Valdir de Carvalho Special Prize) In this edition, the Salon pays tribute to:
👨⚕️ Dr. Joseph Murray – a remarkable and fundamental figure in medical history, pioneer in organ transplantation and responsible for the first successful human kidney transplant in 1954.
👨⚕️ Dr. Emil Sabbaga – an important figure in consolidating this field in Brazil, who served as clinical coordinator of the first organ transplant in the country in 1965 🇧🇷.

8 - AWARDS
🏆 A total of R$ 4,500.00 will be awarded as follows:
🥇 Two 1st Prizes: R$ 1,000.00 each (Cartoon & Charge).
🥈 Two 2nd Prizes: R$ 500.00 each (Cartoon & Charge).
🏅 Valdir de Carvalho Special Prize (Caricature):

📜 All categories will also receive three Honorable Mentions (certificates), totaling 9 mentions.
🏅 Additional prizes may be granted by sponsors and supporters.
9 - VALDIR DE CARVALHO PRIZE
🏅 This prize was created to honor the co-founder of the GABRIEL Institute and aims to award works in the caricature category, as described in item 7.
10 - JUDGING
👥 The Pre-Selection Jury will consist of representatives of the GABRIEL Institute.
- The Award Jury will include healthcare professionals involved in organ donation and transplantation, graphic artists, and invited supporters of the cause.
- Jury decisions are final and non-appealable.
- The jury reserves the right not to award prizes in categories that do not meet sufficient quality standards.
- All awarded works become property of the GABRIEL Institute.
- Fraud or plagiarism will result in disqualification and cancellation of awards.
- Works will be published on the Salon website and may be contested within 10 days after publication with proper evidence.
- In case of a tie, the Pre-Selection Jury will decide.
- Works outside the regulations or plagiarized will be automatically disqualified.
- Works using collage techniques with non-original or non-public domain images will also be disqualified.
11 - REGISTRATION & SUBMISSION
🔗 Submissions must be made exclusively via: https://www.gabriel.org.br/salao-de-humor/inscricao/
- The registration form must be fully completed.
- Participants must submit works by category, totaling up to 15 works per registration.
- Only one registration per participant is allowed. Multiple entries will result in only the first being considered valid.
- Incomplete registrations will be rejected.
12 - GENERAL CONSIDERATIONS
- Submitted works automatically become part of the Salon collection.

- Selected works may be reproduced for exhibitions, institutional promotion, and virtual catalogs.
- The GABRIEL Institute is not responsible for technical failures or incorrect submissions.
- Participants assign copyright usage rights of the submitted works to the GABRIEL Institute, free of charge, irrevocably, irreversibly, and non-exclusively.
- The Institute may use the works in any format or media for institutional and awareness purposes.
- Moral rights remain with the author(s), ensuring credit and preservation of the work’s integrity.
