🇵🇪 The city of Arequipa (Peru) has been the birthplace of outstanding caricaturists, many of whom have showcased their talent in nationally recognized publications. In recognition of the importance of this art form, the Centro Cultural Peruano Norteamericano announces the fourth edition of the international competition “Gran Premio de Caricatura Málaga Grenet 2026”.
🏙️ We seek to revalue the art of physiognomic portrait caricature, an artistic genre that humorously exaggerates the most distinctive facial features of a person while preserving their essence and recognizability. Our goal is to elevate the genre to the category of a work of art.
📜 RULES AND REGULATIONS:
🎓 The organization of the Caricature Competition: “Gran Premio de Caricatura Málaga Grenet 2026” is in charge of the Centro Cultural Peruano Norteamericano, under the sponsorship of Sociedad Minera Cerro Verde, with the support of Universidad Católica Santa María and Grupo Roberts, and with the collaboration of Uhuhu.
🌍 PARTICIPATION:
Any professional or amateur artist of legal age, from any part of the world, may participate in this competition.
🎯 THEME:
🐭 The theme of the competition is a physiognomic caricature of: Walt Disney.
🎬 Walt Disney (1901–1966) was an American pioneer of
animation, film producer, and entrepreneur, creator of Mickey Mouse and
founder of The Walt Disney Company together with his brother Roy. He
revolutionized the industry through sound, color, and feature-length
films, founded Disneyland, and received 22 Academy Awards, establishing
the largest entertainment empire in the world.
📌 REQUIREMENTS:
1- Participants must register by completing the form through the following link: https://forms.gle/ZaC8hTwWcC5Pb3PQ9
2- Each participant may submit up to two works, provided they have not previously won awards in any other competition.
3- Works may be created using any technique and must be in A-3 format.
4- WORKS GENERATED WITH ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.
5- Works must be submitted in JPG format with a resolution of 300 dpi (dots per inch) and accompanied by a brief biography.
6- Submitted works must be sent together with the Registration Form.
7- The submitted files must include the artist’s name and country.
✍️ Example: (Name) Juan Perez-Argentina (Country).
8- IMPORTANT: The winner must have a bank account in their own name, providing the IBAN code for the European Union, ABA code for transfers to the United States, and SWIFT code for the rest of the world, in addition to any other information required to complete the transfer.
- If the winner does not meet these requirements,
the organization is exempt from any responsibility regarding delivery of
the prize.
⏰ FINAL DEADLINE:
9- The submission deadline closes on August 1, 2026, at 00:00 hours (Peru time).
10- The organizing entity will publish the list of all received works so that authors may verify that their entries have advanced to the final evaluation stage.
🏆 PRIZE:
11- The winning work will receive a single prize of:
💰 5000 US dollars.
🗿 A statuette by master Julio Málaga Grenet.
📜 A certificate of recognition.
✈️ A trip to Arequipa, Peru, with all expenses paid for the winner, including 3 nights of accommodation and meals in the city to attend the award ceremony.
🎨 An art kit.
⚖️ JUDGING:
1- The jury will be composed of artists of recognized prestige.
2- The jury’s decision will be non-appealable.
3- The jury’s verdict will be communicated to the winner by telephone or email and will later be published on the websites and on the Facebook and Instagram social media accounts of the Centro Cultural Peruano Norteamericano.
4- The winner must deliver the original artwork upon arrival in the city of Arequipa or send it by registered mail to the competition organizers (if the author does not attend the ceremony).
5- Artists selected for the exhibition will receive a digital certificate and the virtual catalog.
6- The organization reserves the right to publish and reproduce the winning work and the other selected works without the express authorization of the author or authors, and without this implying any obligation toward the artist.
7- Participation in the competition implies full and unconditional acceptance of these rules.
