6th International Cartoon & Satirical Portrait Competition "Caricatunis", Egypt 2026

🇪🇬 Abla Art Foundation, together with Fayoum Art Center, the Embassy of Ireland, and it partners, is honoured to present the 6th international edition of Caricatunis!

📢 This year, we’re inviting artists from around the world to explore two themes connecting art, history, and identity.

1️⃣ CARTOON THEME: BORDERS
🌐 Borders can be physical, political, cultural, social, or imagined. This theme invites artists to explore freedom of movement, restrictions, belonging, identity, division, connection, and the many ways borders shape the world around us. What do borders protect? What do they divide? Who gets to cross them, and who doesn’t? We invite you to question what borders represent, who they serve, what happens when they are crossed or challenged, and how they shape our understanding of people, places, and belonging.

2️⃣ SATIRICAL PORTRAIT THEME: LADY AUGUSTA GREGORY
🇮🇪 This year’s theme pays tribute to Lady Augusta Gregory (1852–1932), the Irish playwright, folklorist, cultural figure, and co-founder of the Abbey Theatre.

Gregory travelled to Egypt in the 1880s, where she encountered the Egyptian nationalist movement and Ahmed Orabi, which had a profound impact on her political consciousness and inspired her first published work, Arabi and His Household (1882).
