🇵🇹 A catalog has been published for the International Caricature Contest on Camilo Castelo Branco, held as part of the project “Camilo Por Terras do Interior”, continuing the celebrations of the Bicentenary of the Birth of Camilo Castelo Branco.
📚 The Municipalities of Vila Real and Ribeira de Pena organized the international contest to celebrate the life and work of the renowned Portuguese writer. Through caricature, image, and satire, the initiative also aimed to bring Camilo’s figure and work back into contemporary daily life and encourage the (re)discovery and reading of his books.
🌍 More than 140 works from 30 countries and four continents were submitted to the competition. Alongside artists from the region and Portugal, caricaturists participated from countries including Brazil, China, Turkey, Colombia, the United States of America, Uruguay, Ukraine, Peru, and many others.
🖼️ The exhibition features a selection of 79 caricatures from the competition, offering a representative overview of the submitted works. Initially presented in Vila Real and Ribeira de Pena, the exhibition is itinerant and is intended to travel to different territories associated with Camilo in the region and across Portugal.
